Christina Tobajas
CODING / STEAM / TECHNOLOGY
Hello,
it's great to meet you!
For over twenty years in independent schools, I have designed and offered courses in STEAM, Educational Technology, and Computer Science. I have a unique perspective on student learning and curriculum design on a developmental scale. You will find a pedagogically balanced and student-centered approach in my teaching -- direct instruction to build foundational skills and an emphasis on creative and expressive project-based learning. Students work through a range of learning activities (individual, pair, and group) so that a diverse student population might explore computing at their individual experience level.
My approach capitalizes on my background in the humanities, world languages and computer science; I have a knack for viewing things contextually and inter-disciplinarily, and weaving together a rich story that seamlessly integrates technology with learning goals in unique ways.

Student Takeaways
"Thank you so much for being such an amazing teacher! I never knew how much I loved computer science until this class. Thank you! - Abi, :)
"To be able to code and to be able to improvise it in your own special, unique way, and have a really good time doing it!" - Dylan M.
"On the surface level, coding is writing instructions for a computer to follow. But, I think what this class has been really hinting at is that coding is more of a mindset." - Marcus C.
"I worked through productive struggles and with other classmates. We really got to collaborate with students on projects." - Clara B.
"It's not just about coding. Christina, she likes to talk to us, ask about our day, especially this high school [ex-missions] process." - Xavier L.
